This is personal. Something intrinsic of the nature of who I am.
I feel the world around me. I feel the wind and the soil and the water rushing down the stream. I feel the blades of grass straining to push through the earth and become tall. I feel the fish slipping through the current, the butterflies dancing in the sun, the birds and their melodies. I feel all of it, running through me like a phantom, energy running straight through my body, taking me, calling to me, becoming me. This is the basis of every painting I make. This possession of me by the living world.
"Song of the Equinox" is the flower. The balmy air of May. Spring. Newness. Lushness. Sensual un abashed beauty. Naked. For all the world to see. It is a symphony of blossoming life and energy. And also a delicate and subtle sonnet to every coming of that most balanced day, when all is hopeful and light.
This painting is one of my personal favorites. Looking upon it feels like being in love.
As of this writing. "Song of the Equinox" is available in the Colorado Studio.
