I've been through a lot the last couple years. Too much. A stream of change and surrender and courage and letting go and feeling lost since I was diagnosed with cancer in 2024. I feel like it won't stop. Life just won't stop for a nice long moment and let me breathe. 
"Renaissance" was one of the first paintings I made when I had enough energy to hold a brush after cancer treatment. I wanted to be reborn. I wanted a sunrise. The painting was beautiful, but it never quite convinced me. It was a forced version of something warm and golden, when I was only feeling gray.
The true rebirth, truest renaissance, is not something golden, but something green in the heart of spring overtaking the natural world. So I returned there, to that place of surrender, and made my green "Renaissance".
 
This is one of the most moving paintings I have ever made.
