70 x 70 cm

Oil on linen with 4cm deep frame

2025

This is the last painting born spontaneously in the Italy Studio, emanating its own eternal light.

When I paint, I use cloth rags taken from daily life. For this painting, I used one of the discarded head coverings I was forced to wear during chemo treatments. As I painted, the light emerged there, in the center. The newborn light, coming forth from the ashes of suffering.

This was a perfect, poignant ending to this season of life.

I threw the rag away when I finished. I kept the newborn light.

The newborn light that is me
